VCO and IVRA to collaborate on a broad basis in Esports racing going forward

  • Partnership with IVRA gives VCO an even broader presence on iRacing.
  • IVRA covers the whole spectrum of the community with various race series.
  • Florian Haasper: “Part of the philosophy of VCO is to be very close to the heart of the community – and the collaboration with IVRA is the perfect foundation for this.”

Munich – Virtual Competition Organisation (VCO) is expanding its presence in Esports racing with a new collaboration: Going forward, the Munich-based enterprise will work closely with IVRA – International Virtual Racing Association. IVRA offers the community a wide range of events and race series that are perfectly tailored to the skills of the individual drivers – on the leading sim platform iRacing. From the Club Cup for entry-level racing, through the ClubSport Series, to the HyperX GT Sprint Series and the Endurance Series: The superbly organised IVRA events are aimed at the entire iRacing community.

IVRA stands out from the other championships and events in Esports racing in many ways. The well thought out regulations, the realistic use of safety car phases and the standard race control using experienced stewards make the races unique experiences for spectators and competitors alike.

Between September 2021 and May 2022 more than 30 virtual race events are scheduled for IVRA and VCO. They will all be available to watch on the VCO streaming channels (Twitch, Facebook & YouTube). In the IVRA Endurance Series the teams will do battle for points and wins in a mixed sports car and GT field.

The IVRA ClubSport Series races will be contested by cars in the classes Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, GT4 and TCR, while iRacing’s entry-level model Mazda MX5 will be used in the IVRA Club Cup. The HyperX GT Sprint Series will be contested exclusively by GT3 racing cars.

“What really excites us about our partnership with IVRA is the diversity of the races that we will be able to offer our fans going forward,” said Florian Haasper, CEO of VCO. “As well as our own top events, it is vitally important to us to create offerings for the Esports racing community on a broad scale in collaboration with strong partners. IVRA is the perfect partner for this. The series system covers many different skill levels of Esports racers, and special features such as the use of a safety car makes for even greater excitement. We’re really looking forward to working with IVRA and are confident that the fans will enjoy the races.”

Julian Bell, co-founder of IVRA, said: “VCO marked firm ground in the Esports arena from an early stage, recognizing the rapid growth of the industry and a space to help that growth with a large media and promotion platform. Especially in iRacing, VCO has helped to broaden community engagement and impact the scope and reach of major events that take place throughout the year. By partnering with them, it provides us further support to continue to grow and further our vision to offer sim racers the best and most accurately simulated series that are available in sim competition.”
