Munich – For the third time since 2020, Virtual Competition Organisation (VCO) will be the partner of four races on the special events calendar of the leading simulation platform, iRacing, this season: the VCO Grand Slams. The first of these will take place this weekend, the iRacing Nürburgring 24, hosted on the virtual version of the legendary Nürburgring-Nordschleife (LIVE on Twitch). The six-hour race of Watkins Glen, Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta, and the 10 Hours of Suzuka are also part of the 2022 Grand Slam programme.
Traditionally, VCO enhances these four iRacing events with additional highlights for teams and viewers. All class winners in the ‘top split’ of those teams with the highest iRating receive a coveted VCO Grand Slam trophy. Viewers will also get their money’s worth. The well-known commentary team of Radio Show Limited, with John Hindhaugh, will be on air alongside the RaceSpot TV Esports racing experts. In collaboration with iRacing, VCO will also be awarding five lots of 50 iRacing credits, the virtual currency on the simulation platform, to viewers chosen at random at each event.
“The VCO Grand Slams on iRacing are almost a tradition now,” said Florian Haasper, CEO of VCO. “We are very grateful to iRacing for allowing us to be a partner of four of their most prestigious events. The Grand Slams have their own unique character, Nürburgring, Watkins Glen, Road Atlanta and Suzuka present totally different challenges for the teams. I am confident that we will see four exciting, fiercely contested races.”
Kevin Bobbitt, Director of Marketing at iRacing, said: “We are glad to partner with VCO for a third round of Grand Slam Special Events on iRacing. This series of events turned out to be very popular among teams and drivers on the service. By providing trophies and bringing the familiar voices from Radio Show Limited to the broadcasts, VCO adds some additional promotional value to these those four events. I think our special events at the Nürburgring, Watkins Glen, Road Atlanta and Suzuka will be really impressive this year.”
