Munich – The stage is set for a new chapter in the story of motorsport: Virtual Competition Organisation (VCO) is Official Partner and Presenter of the Digital Nürburgring Endurance Series powered by VCO.
The virtual version of the real-world Nürburgring Endurance Series (NLS), which saw its first three races cancelled due to the current situation, enjoyed a successful debut last Saturday. The dates for the rest of the season have now also been announced. VCO will feature prominently in the live broadcasts of all eight remaining races, and will focus largely on the partnership in the company’s own communication measures.
“We are delighted that, through our involvement, we are able to help make the Digital Nürburgring Endurance Series powered by VCO a long-term venture,” said Florian Haasper, CEO of Virtual Competition Organisation. “In these difficult times, motorsport fans are hungry for some racing and a little distraction. As a result, interest in Esports racing has grown considerably of late.”
“With its enthusiastic fans, we believe that the DNLS is the perfect stage on which to demonstrate just how well the fusion between real motorsport and Esports racing can work. Through our creativity and passion for motor racing, we are committed to working together with Christian Stephani and his team, to fully exploit the unique opportunities offered by the Esports sector, and to set new benchmarks.”
Christian Stephani, Managing Director of VLN VV GmbH & Co. KG: “The opening round of the season in the Digital Nürburgring Endurance Series was a big success, both from a sporting and a media perspective. We have received a lot of positive feedback from fans of both real and virtual motorsport. The partnership with the VCO is an important milestone for us, which not only allows us to continue the digital commitment, but also to expand it. I am confident that the cooperation with Florian Haasper and his team will produce many positive synergies, in order to make the new virtual championship a permanent institution, together with its iconic real counterpart, and to link the two worlds.”
The three-hour races in the Digital Nürburgring Endurance Series powered by VCO are held on the virtual Nürburgring-Nordschleife. Each race features 60 teams, spread across four different classes. The platform for the races is the leading Esports racing simulation, iRacing. Victory in the opening round of the season, held on 21st March, went to Gianni Vecchio and Jonas Wallmeier of Team Redline in a Ferrari 488 GT3.
