In the top split, Joshua Rogers, Joni Takanen and Mack Bakkum of the VRS Coanda Simsport team are in the lead after the first four hours having been at the front consistently since starting from pole position. However, the Redline Blue team of Maximilian Benecke, Christopher Dambietz and Jonas Wallmeier was hot on their heels as night fell.

VCO CUP OF NATIONS: STAGE SET FOR THE BIG ESPORTS RACING WORLD CUP

Munich – Virtual Competition Organisation (VCO) and Williams Esports are exploring new horizons together: In the ‘VCO Cup of Nations for UNICEF, presented by Arconis’, 64 drivers from 16 countries will do battle for the Esports racing crown in an exciting tournament format. On 25th and 26th July 2020, the iRacing platform will be the arena for this unique battle of the countries. RaceSpot will host and broadcast the event. TEAM REDLINE WINS THE iRACING 24H LE MANS POWERED BY VCO – LARGEST-EVER NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS

Munich – This weekend featured one of the highlights of the Esports racing season, the iRacing 24h Le Mans powered by VCO. 2,384 teams and around 10,000 drivers took part in the classic race on the virtual ‘Circuit de la Sarthe’ – more than ever before on the iRacing platform. As usual, the field competed in various splits and in the three racing classes: LMP1, LMP2/HPD and GTE. After 24 hours of racing, Team Redline LMP1 claimed overall victory. Dominik Färber, Tom Michelmore, Patrick Wolf and Matt Farrow shared driving duties at the wheel of the #7 Audi R18.

JOINING FORCES FOR A GOOD CAUSE: MAHLE RACING TEAM AND VCO DONATE PROTECTIVE MASKS

Munich – United in the fight against coronavirus: The MAHLE RACING TEAM is not only doing battle for points and positions in the Digital Nürburgring Endurance Series powered by VCO, but is also fighting the spread of coronavirus in the real world. As part of the MAHLE Challenge, the team is donating protective masks to the #StayHomeAndSew campaign with support from Virtual Competition Organisation (VCO). The MAHLE RACING TEAM is donating 100 masks for every podium achieved so far at VCO events. VCO is also supporting the initiative, adding a further 100 hand-stitched masks to the total number being donated to social institutions.

Munich – In races presented by Virtual Competition Organisation (VCO), the focus is generally on Esports racing stars like Maximilian Benecke, Alex Arana and Laurin Heinrich or on big-name professional racing drivers. At the same time, however, it is the countless enthusiastic amateurs who breathe life into Esports racing. One such person is hobby racer Andre Dünnbier. He recently competed in the iRacing 24h Nürburgring powered by VCO. Now in his mid-50s, he is not the average age of a gamer. However, his passion for Esports racing is a long and interesting story. In an interview, he tells this story and discusses an encounter with Max Verstappen.
